So if your DEF is increased by 50%/150%, your defense is 1.5x/2.5x its starting point respectively, so damage taken is reduced to 1/1.5 or 1/2.5 respectively, which is 66.66% or 40%, meaning a 33.33%/60% damage reduction respectively.
As for debuffs, or things that reduce damage like Def buffs, the reduction is the reciprocal. Buffs are great for a starting team, because after 2 +75% ATK buffs (reaching the max of +150% ATK) even a mediocre Morty can 1 shot pretty much anything with a few attack seeds, so with a single buffed Morty, if you have a decent speed, you can likely take out an entire trainer without being touched (after you buff anyways). I can confirm these exact numbers through my own testing. Also, the HP for a level 100 Morty with capped EVs could be higher in a Morty with lower Base HP if Base HP + HP-IV is higher than a Morty with a higher Base-HP.īuffs/Debuffs give +/-25%/50%/75% for Weak/Med/Strong to a maximum of +150% based on Pokemon's system. So it's unrealistic to get 5 perfect HP IV cronenberg Mortys, so you could settle for getting one of each type and even Morticia instead of Cronenberg Morty. Fortunately through calculations on data provided by gensek I've learned that there are no per-stat limitations to EV gains like in Pokemon Assuming average base HP is around 50 to 100 depending on the Mortys you face, that means you need to defeat ~655 - 1310 Mortys to maximize your EV gains before level 100. The gains from EVs seem to happen when you level up, so you need to reach this before you hit level 100. The max EV is 2 16 = 65536, so the max HP increase via HP EVs is 128. The effective stat increase is sqrt(HP EV/4). So if you kill a Cronenberg Morty, the Mortys you defeated it with will have their HP EV increase by 110 since Cronenberg Morty's Base HP is 110. Your EVs go up by the base stats of every Morty you defeat with that Morty (should fully include all Mortys who gain exp when an opposing Morty is defeated). Then from there, you need to focus on capping your HP EVs. If you want to test your Morty's IVs later, there's one way to do it at level 100 assuming you've capped out your EVs by taking the original formula, plugging in 128 for sqrt(EV/4) then solving for IV So in the end you determine which Morty will end up with higher HP at level 100 by comparing each Morty's (Base HP + HP IV). It may not be realistic to make sure your entire team has perfect IVs, but it's worth noting because a Morty with good IVs could end up with more HP than a Morty with higher base HP but bad IVs.
Unfortunately since there is no breeding like in Pokemon which passes down good IVs to offspring, you just have to get lucky. This makes the EVs 0, and then the formula would be: So the easiest way (and probably the only way) is to do it as soon as you get your Morty, before it has leveled up once. So with respect to EVs, there will be more on that below, but basically keeping track of your EVs currently requires you to keep track of every single Morty you've defeated with the Morty you're calculating for. So how do you find out your IVs? First, you need your Morty to be at least level ~40-50 to get an accurate number, but even then it's still an estimation, but should be accurate, and more accurate the higher level your Morty is. So this means with perfect HP IV, your Morty will receive a bonus 32 HP by level 100. So how this works is that every Morty starts out with a random HP IV (and one for every other stat) that is between 1 and 16 (it's 0 to 31 in Pokemon, but I tested it and found out it was 16 for pocket mortys). So first, when you pick your Mortys, ideally you want to make sure they have perfect HP IVs.
