High levels of humidity will increase the rate at which silver will tarnish. Hydrogen sulphide is also found in everyday items such as paper, wood, eggs and onions. Sterling silver is a precious metal and will tarnish over time as natural gases in the atmosphere (sulphur or hydrogen sulphide) react with the surface of the silver. There is zero to minimal transfer from the product during use. There is no residue on the finished cloth, the surface treatment makes the cloth more abrasive. There is not 100% uptake of the impregnation mixture in the cloth - it is estimated that this is between 7% and 18% dependent on the dye used in the cloth manufacture.
